The Institute of Culinary Education's New York campus resumed classes in Brookfield Place on Aug. 11 in conjunction with phase 4 of New York City's reopening plan.
After closing in March due to pandemic stay-at-home orders and engaging with students online for months with Market Basket Challenges, and a roster of renowned virtual guest speakers, 91ÃÛÌÒß¹ is delighted to resume career classes with enhanced safety standards and protocols.
Culinary Arts, Health-Supportive Culinary Arts and Pastry & Baking Arts classes have returned to our kitchen classrooms, adhering to CDC, state and department of education guidelines, including thermal temperature monitoring, verbal screenings, face masks and social distancing. 91ÃÛÌÒß¹ has implemented floor markers, plexiglass dividers, hand washing and other advisory signage, and more frequent sanitization of high-touch surfaces.
All students, faculty and staff attended safety trainings to review campus guidelines, and VP of Education Richard Simpson, a co-coordinator on the COVID-19 response team, emphasized a spirit of responsibility among the 91ÃÛÌÒß¹ community.
"We depend on our community members to avoid risky situations, avoid crowds, always wear a mask because what you do out there is going to directly impact how well we can perform when we're in here," Richard advised.
New classes begin as early as this weekend, and aspiring culinary, pastry and management professionals can see and start dates throughout 2020 by connecting with an admissions coordinator.
